Just popping in for a second to do a quick post about my new chair. I’ve been searching high and low (mostly low) to find a chair in this style…
Surprised? I hope not. When I first saw these chairs I instantly fell in love. I mean, every inch of these chairs is covered in sumptuous leopard velvet…could it possibly get more perfect? Nope. No. Not even a little. You can own a pair of chairs very similar by clicking Chairish for a cool $4,000. *Yikes*
Alas, I am neither cool nor brave enough to buy these chairs (not to mention that I don’t have $4k to spend on two chairs). Well, I should say that I’m not cool or brave enough to have these chairs covered in leopard print in my living room. Covered in a different fabric, however, these chairs are a must have. (Check out the ceiling in the picture below; it supports my advice to you in my last post…)
I am obsessed with all things fully upholstered. I’m sure there’s a name for this style of upholstering and if I knew it it might make my Craig’s Lists and Chairish searches more fruitful. Most sellers identify these chairs as “in the style of ” Milo Baughman or Parsons. I have no idea which is right or if there is a right answer. Either way, once people start putting labels on them they start jacking up the prices; especially Milo Baughman because his stuff is super hot right now. (He’s some dude from the 1950’s known for his mid-century and contemporary furniture designs.)
Most of the chairs that I’ve found in this style are at least $500 for one or $1000+ for the pair like HERE. And they’re usually covered in some terrible fabric, which means I’ll have to spend more money getting them reupholstered. I think this will cost about $600 per chair (excluding the fabric). *Double yikes*
So imagine my delight…ney…overwhelming joy and elation when I found this chair yesterday for $20! Let me say that another way: I found this chair for twenty-bucks! Can you believe that? Plus, I can even live with the fabric its covered in for a while. I feel like I should buy a lottery ticket because I’m feeling lucky tonight!
The search continues for her mate because two are always better than one…
