As the title suggests this post will be about completely random things. Crack-crackers. Aniline dye decisions. And rug dilemma…
CRACK-CRACKERS: I’m obsessed with these crackers. They are so good. A friend gave them to me because she was cleaning out her house for a move back East. When she gave them to me, I was in the early stages of a sugar cleanse and they were the perfect thing to beat those sugar cravings. I’ve been trying to find them since I devoured the box but I’ve struck out. Aaaah!!!??? Now I’m hitting the chocolate chip cookies hard.
ANILINE DYE: I’ve been researching my next project: staining an old church pew. The pew is oak and will be the perfect piece to try cerusing. I’m torn between Nigrosine Black or Indigo Blue (see below). What do you think?
(Ooh..what’s ceruse you ask? It’s a staining technique that enhances wood grain in using powdered aniline dye. I love it because it produces a really graphic finish. I would kill for a kitchen with some cerused lower cabinets and white uppers. Can I get a “hell yeah”?!)
LIVING ROOM RUG: And finally… now that my couch is kicking ass, my rug is killing me. The problem I’m having is trying to figure out the right size. A few months ago, I spent $100 to have an online designer come to the house for what I thought would be a consultation. She, however, had other plans but that’s another story…#wasteof$100
Anyway that’s why I’ve been living with a rug that hurts my senses. I’ve been toying with buying this RUG because I love the subtle pattern and it’s 10 x 14. But what if it’s still too small and that designer comes to my house and declares it’s inadequate? I’d
be crushed survive.
