Hello Party-People! I’m just popping in to share a few quick things I’m digging right now.
A few months ago I read Homegoing, a novel by Yaa Gyasi and it’s one of the most compelling books I’ve ever read. The story follows two families over 300 years from Africa to the U.S. from slavery to out of slavery. I’ve wanted to share this book with you for a while but I hesitated because I knew I wouldn’t do it justice. But then I found this article about the book and it does a such a fantastic job capturing the brilliance of this novel and I’m sure once you read it you’ll be convinced that you need to read this book. So go forth, read it and have your mind blown!
Glitch is a bizarre little Australian show on Netflix. I liked it…I think…but if we’re being honest, I’m probably urging you to watch it just so we can chat about it since I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it. I think it’s about zombies and I have no idea who the good/bad guys are. Ok…I’m doing a terrible job selling this show, aren’t I? Not surprising perhaps is that there’s only been one season and there are only 6 episodes. Come on, do me a solid and go watch it and report back what you think. Pleeease…
To make up for the non-recommendation recommendation of Glitch, I whole-heartedly recommend: The 100 . It’s on the CW network, which until I started watching this show I didn’t realize was still on. The 100 has all the teen drama the CW does best. But instead of being set in the suburbs or by a creek…(did you get the reference?)…This show is about how humanity had to evacuate earth after a nuclear war 97 years before and now live on a space station that orbits Earth. The show starts with the Station’s leaders realizing that humanity can’t survive on the space station much longer (food, oxygen, etc. running out) and so they send a group of 100 juvenile delinquents to earth to see if it’s safe enough for them to return to.
I love post-apocalyptic dramas and I love teen melodramas so this show is my jam! The main character is Clarke and she takes herself rrreeeall serious — as teens do — but she’s also a bad ass so I can overlook how annoying she can be at times.
And lastly, but definitely not least, is the blog McMansion Hell . McMansion Hell is hands-down one of my favorite blogs right now. My BFF turned me on to it recently and I’m totally addicted. At McMansion Hell they dissect suburban architecture, using listing photos of houses for sale…(sound familiar). Here’s a little taste of what you’ll get at McMansion Hell.
At times, I’m totally f**king jealous at how funny they are when eviscerating these homes. The best posts are in “Certified Danks™” When you look through a couple of the listings you might notice some similarities to FFF. I assure you any similarities are purely coincidental. I only wish I could be as witty as McMansion Hell.
That’s all for now.
