Today’s Tuesday and you know what that means…it’s tear down time. For today’s tear down you will need a lot of vision to see the potential in this “Thing”.
And out of the gates this house does not disappoint…well…I guess, it does disappoint but you know what I mean.
When I first saw this house, it immediately reminded me of The Thing from the 70’s Super Friend’s
1347 sq. ft.
Listed for $700,000 on June 9, 2017
The pricing history on this house has been insane. It was initially listed for $598,000 and then on the 26th they raised the price to $700,000. Then it went pending and then on 7/7 it was relisted. What I think happened was the realtor accidentally put in the offer price they’d accepted when making it pending. And now everyone knows how much the seller is willing to take. Ruh-roh.
Let’s take another look at this lovely again, shall we?
This house is on an incredibly busy street so you shouldn’t spend that much $$$ on nice landscaping (after taking the colossal palm tree down of course). The rock facade has to go too. I would do a combo stucco and wood like in the inspiration.
Once all of the old and ugly gets cleared away, all this room needs is new flooring and paint.
Here we will have our perpetual debate about whether to go open concept or not? If you’ve been following me for a while, then you probably know what my position is, but I must admit I feel less strongly about it here because the house is so small. I would initially start by seeing how widening and raising the opening into the kitchen would make the spaces feel. If it didn’t work, then I might take out the hutch and make it open concept. *gasp*
There’s nothing in this kitchen that should stay, except the lay out. The lay out is pretty good.
Master Bedroom + Bathroom
This room seems HUGE based on the size of the bed they have in it. And again, like the living room, this rooms just needs to be cleared out, new floors and paint.
The attached bathroom is a total gut job but the fact that it’s attached is such a great feature to have in a house of this age.
There seem to be 2 doors into this bathroom. I would aim to seal one of the doors up and by doing that we could improve the lay out. Right now the toilet is way too close to the tub.
I’m ob-sessed with this bathroom.

I usually have a really hard time imagining outdoor spaces but the palm trees and the diamond pavers are giving me the Hollywood-vibe.
There you go. Another TTT. What’d you think of this “Thing”?! Ha!
